The Preparing for Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics course includes four modules of learning, tutor support throughout and a mock assessment. It also includes all examination, certification and administration fees for when you feel you are ready to sit your exam.
Gaining your Functional Skills qualifications will help you to improve your employment chances as well as enable you to apply for a range of jobs. You will also be able to apply to apprenticeship schemes and University courses with this qualification.
At the end of your course, you will be able to arrange an examination for the Open Awards Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics.

Modules
Open Awards Level 2 Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics supports learners in applying their mathematical skills, through appropriate reasoning and decision-making, to solve realistic problems of increasing complexity.
You will be:
• Introduced to new areas of life and work so that they are exposed to concepts and problems which, while not of immediate concern, may be of value in later life;
• Enabled to develop an appreciation of the role played by mathematics in the world of work and life generally;
• Able to use these skills autonomously, applying them to a range of formal and informal contexts, in the workplace and real life.

Qualification
At the end of the 12-month course, you will be awarded a non-accredited Preparing for Functional Skills Mathematics Level 2 participation certificate.
You will be expected to sit a formal exam to receive the Open Awards Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics; the fees for the exam are included in the price.
Requirements
There are no formal requirements for entry into this course, however, it may be useful if you have already gained your Level 1 Functional Skills in Mathematics. At the beginning of the course, there is a diagnostic assessment to find out what skills you already have.
Examination
The examination consists of one exam, which has two sections.
